Loud, rude, and nothing to prove, Hitter kicked off the Empty Bottle’s annual winter block party, Frozen Music Dancing. Despite only having a demo to their name, they’re one of my favorite local bands of the last couple years. They’re a total throwback to the raw, metalpunk sound of the late 70s and early 80s. Think bands like Motörhead, Plasmatics, and The Runaways. Frontwoman Hanna “Hazard” Johnson leads the charge with snotty, snarling vocals and rock n roll swagger that can’t be faked. Her partners in crime are Ryan “Wizkid” Wizniak on drums, Adam “Lucky” Luksetich on guitars, and the latest addition, Rüsty on bass. Together, they’re a sonic overload of sound; soldiers on the frontline of rockageddon. Don’t like it? Tough. “Only way to feel the noise is when it’s good and loud.” – Lemmy
In a little under 30 minutes, Hitter stormed through a raucous cover of KISS’s “Detroit Rock City”, cuts off their 2018 demo, as well as what I believe are new songs. Hopefully a full length materializes soon. Until then, enjoy these pictures.
